Trevor Noah Started Off His ‘Daily Show’ Debut With A Tribute To Jon Stewart

The eagerly-anticipated debut of Trevor Noah as the new host of The Daily Show took place Monday night and he started it out by giving props to the man he replaced: Jon Stewart.

“Jon Stewart was more than just a late night host. He was often our voice, our refuge, and in many ways, our political dad. And it’s weird, because dad has left. And now it feels like the family has a new stepdad…and he’s black,” joked Noah.

Noah also cracked wise about the Pope, John Boehner stepping down, why a woman didn’t get the hosting gig, and most importantly, vowed to continue Jon Stewart’s “war on bullshit.”

Not a bad start, but there’s still a long way to go before we know whether Trevor Noah can truly fill those big shoes Stewart left behind.
