For some, the buzz for Gravity, the first movie from Children of Men director Alfonso Cuarón in seven years, was already insane—even before James Cameron told Variety, "I think it’s the best space film ever done, and it’s the movie I’ve been hungry to see for an awful long time." But for others, it was a tough sell: The movie is essentially a collection of long, continuous camera shots showing Sandra Bullock floating weightless through space. And that's what, by all accounts, makes up the bulk of the 91-minute running time. Just Sandra Bullock floating through space. With a lot of breathing, because you can't exactly hear any noise around her.
This trailer should calm at least some of the doubters. It's an absolute nail-biter, maybe the coolest-looking trailer of the year, and it looks like Gravity might actually end up earning its fall buzz.
