Die-hard fans of "The Big Lebowski" know that the character of The Dude is actually based off a real guy, Jeff Dowd, a 1970s-era anti-war protester who was briefly jailed as a member of the Seattle Seven. Well, finally, a documentary has been made to introduce us to Mr. Dowd, the inspiration behind one of film's greatest heroes. (I'm not exaggerating. I stack Lebowski up with your Atticus Finches and Bruce Waynes and anyone else.)
Documentary filmaker Jeff Feuerzeig, who directed 30 for 30's "The Real Rocky," put it together. Stay for Dowd's secrets on how to always abide, and pay attention to how he deals with the huge subculture of Lebowski fans that follow him around.
Also, please mix yourself a White Russian before checking this out.
