Teaser Trailer: ‘Walking Dead’ Spinoff With Dumb Name Takes Place In L.A., May Tell How Zombie Apocalypse Started

Are you sad that Season 5 of The Walking Dead came to an end on Sunday night with it’s finale? Cheer up buttercup, because you’re only a few months away from more zombie death porn. The Walking Dead spinoff is set to air on AMC this summer and it is titled, “Fear the Walking Dead.” Eww.

Who let their 5-year-old come up with that name? I understand marketing and wanting to keep the title related to the The Walking Dead brand that is destroying in the ratings, an extraordinary 15.7 million viewers tuning in for the season 4 finale, 14.8 million for last fall’s mid-season finale and 15.6 million for the mid-season premiere. But “Fear the Walking Dead?” So very original.

During last night’s finale, AMC aired the teaser trailer of Fear the Walking Dead. The 16-second clip doesn’t reveal too much about the upcoming series. We do know that it will be set in Los Angeles. We may finally find out what tragedy happened during the two months that Rick Grimes was in a coma and how the zombie plague started as well as how it disintegrated our modern day civilization.

The trailer features a radio DJ advising that everyone get their flu shots as footage of L.A. are aired.

Season 1 of FTWD will only have six episodes, but AMC has already announced that the second season will feature 10 episodes.

Fear The Walking Dead will be filmed in Vancouver. It stars Cliff Curtis, Kim Dickens, Frank Dillane, and Alycia Debnam-Carey. They are a family still struggling with regular world problems like drug addiction despite a zombie apocalypse ravaging the world.

Walking Dead creator Robert Kirkman as well as Gale Ann Hurd, Greg Nicotero, David Alpert and Dave Erickson are the executive producers.

So do you think that Fear the Walking Dead will measure up to the original zombie show?
