Like most cult films that made up for their iffy theatrical showings with long runs on cable and massive DVD sales, "Super Troopers" has long rumored to one day have a sequel. Last year, Jay Chandrasekhar (director of "Super Troopers" and, more importantly, Thorny) told the press that we'd possibly see another smoked-out tale of everyone's favorite Vermont state troopers. No specific date was given, though.
But today, Chandrasekhar told our friends at GuySpeed that the sequel is in fact filming soon... as in this year.
“There will be a Super Troopers sequel," he said. "We put it off for a while and then came back to it. We wrote the script and handed it in to Fox and now we’re just negotiating the time and the place and hopefully shoot it some time this year. I have to start growing my mustache now.”
Expect to be able to watch it in theaters—with your popcorn and your goddamn liter of cola—sometime in 2014 or '15.
