Stephen Colbert Hilariously Calls Out the Strangeness of the Trillion Dollar Coin

Our long national nightmare is over: "The Colbert Report" and the "Daily Show" returned with new episodes last night after taking a break since, I think, the day after the election. Both episodes were funny—but, then again, that's more of a comment on the day-to-day absurdity of our political system than any real genius comedic bit the two came up with.

The night's highlight came in Colbert's thirty minutes when he took on the "platinum trillion dollar coin." If you've missed what this is, the SEO masterminds at Business Insider have already framed this as the "Most Important Fiscal Policy Debate You'll Ever See In Your Life," but, in reality, its a really, really dumb idea that would have the Treasury mint a trillion dollar coin to circumvent the debt ceiling. Colbert did what he does best, and called out this weird idea.
