‘SNL’ Mocks Richard Sherman And Marshawn Lynch In Funny Cold Open Sketch

A day after Key and Peele comically lambasted the Seattle Seahawks, Saturday Night Live gave it a try.

In the 13th episode of SNL‘s 40th season, the show opened with a Super Bowl-themed skit poking fun of Seahawks cornerback Richard Sherman (Jay Pharoah) and Seattle running back Marshawn Lynch (Kenan Thompson).

The football pair hosted a fake talk show called “Super Bowl Shutdown.” Of course Lynch answered every question with the same response, “Thank you for axin’ me dat.” The skit also made fun of bandwagon Seahawks fans who have been staunch supporters since the beginning… of 2013.

Sherman trash-talked New York City mayor Bill de Blasio over shutting down the city because of a over-exaggerated winter storm that didn’t deliver.

Lynch does break character and say that he likes Skittles as well as “hats and glasses.”

Seahawks coach Pete Carroll, portrayed by Taran Killam, made an awkwardly, super-White guy appearance on the show.

Sherman does attack the New England over DeflateGate, a week after SNL chastised the Patriots over the “Eballa crisis.”

All in all a decent skit.
