After having a dynamite year at the box office, Saturday night Jeremy Renner took his first stab at hosting SNL. Sadly for the breakout star of the "Hurt Locker" and "The Avengers," Renner had absolutely nothing to do with show's best moments, including a good lampooning of the Petraeus-Paula Broadwell scandal and climaxing with New Jersey Govenor Chris Christie's cameo on Weekend Update, declaring 'I'm going to die in this fleece." The best moments from this week's show are below.
Cold Open: Paula Broadwell Reads "All In" Like It's "50 Shades of Grey"
Cecily Strong kills it as Paula Broadwell reading "All In" with added graphic details about her affair with Petraeus.
A Highly-Accurate Tourism Commercial for Going Home to Your Parents House
I loved this and surely many others in their mid-20s and beyond can related. "Relax in a bedroom that's been turned into a home office... Unwind in front of the deepest TV ever sold.... Pamper yourself with scratchy, bleach-stained towels from 1994..." Yep, that's home!
Show Highlight: New Jersey Governor Chris Christie Drops By "Weekend Update"
Chris Christie for President 2016. Seth Meyers "Winners and Losers" take was excellent as well.
"The Situation Room With Wolf Blitzer" Mocks Media Coverage of the Petraeus Scandal
Dear Media: You can stop using the same five second clip of Jill Kelley walking out of her Tampa home.
Time to send "The Californians" sketch to the pastures for retirement, SNL writers. The only thing worthwhile about this go is Fred Armisen cracking up the entire time.
The Stand Off
Not bad for a digital short.
Weak, but let's face it: Hawkeye is the worst Avengers character.
Bill Hader steals the sketch as the coroner, drumming on Taran Killam to see if he can keep it together as the corpse.
Cartoon: "The Drones"
I can't be the only person who thinks this cartoon was made in a stoned Bill Hader fever dream, right?
