The news of Joan Rivers’ death is a pretty big bummer, especially for those who have followed her nearly 50-year career in the comedy world. Damnit, we’ve lost too many funny people in 2014.
When I was a young, know-it-all college jackass, I passed her off as a comedian that my parents and grandparents found funny, not someone who really “spoke” to my generation. Then, in 2011, Louis C.K. and Rivers co-wrote a tremendous episode in Season 2 of Louie staring both comedians. Louie is feeling blue while holed up for a gig at an Atlantic City casino until he runs into one of his comedy idols, Joan rivers. Her performance in the episode is nothing short of profound, with Rivers delivering a brutally honest monologue about why comedians go through so much bullshit to do what they do. Also: Blowjobs:
The episode hit its climax when C.K. tries to have sex with Rivers. Just remember that nobody likes necrophiliacs.
