In case you felt like lining up accused murderer/free agent Aaron Hernandez at tight end in this year's Madden 25, EA Sports has, wisely, made the decision a little more difficult for you. The makers announced today that Hernandez has been removed from the game, which means countless hours spent will now be spent creating Hernandez, thanks to gamers with either have a dark sense of humor or sociopathic video game tendencies (i.e. nearly everyone).
Hernandez is in NCAA Football '14, though. Oops.
“We made a decision to remove Aaron Hernandez from Madden NFL 25 and NCAA Football 14. Because NCAA Football 14 was finalized prior to our decision, Hernandez’ image still appears in the Nike Skills Trainer,” a spokesperson for EA Sports said [to CBS Sports]. “However, he is not in the game, and anyone who unlocks that particular Nike Skills Trainer reward will receive an Alex Smith Ultimate Team player item instead. The image of Hernandez will be removed via a Title Update in the near future.”
I play a lot of video games—but I have no idea what that means. Thanks, spokesperson.
