Pitbull Actually Went to Kodiak, Alaska Today

A few weeks ago, Pitbull, Wal-Mart and Sheets Energy Strips announced a marketing deal in which the rapper would visit the U.S. Wal-Mart with the most likes on Facebook. It was a promotion that turned out to be doomed, after Internet hero David Thorpe co-spearheaded a campaign with Jon Hendren to send Pitbull to the most remote Wal-Mart in the country: Kodiak, Alaska's. The comedians pulled the prank off, and Pitbull actually visited the Kodiak Wal-Mart today. Luckily for us, Thorpe was invited to tag along, and he Tweeted the whole trip.

It all seemed to go pretty well. According to Thorpe's account, Pitbull touched down in a private jet around six hours ago and immediately was whisked into a press conference with Kodiak media. He then met Thorpe. "Just met Pitbull. He shook my hand and said 'Keep bullshitting. Next thing you know we’ll be on the moon,' Thorpe recounted on Twitter.

The town then gave a ceremony for the rapper and at least by Thorpe's account... he actually acted kind of cool. He accepted a gift of bear mace from the town, as well as the key to the city. He sat through a local song the townspeople played for him, and he met with the staff of the local Wal-Mart. He was graciously wrote on Twitter today, "Thank U Kodiak ... I am honored, truly." He also promised to mention Kodiak in a future song.

As for Thorpe, the man couldn't help but troll one more time at the end of the day, Tweeting "Big shout out to Kmart and Listerine Fresh Strips for making this whole thing happen."
