New Host Of ‘The Daily Show’ Already Labeled A ‘Jew-Hating Bully Towards Fat Chicks’ Because Comedy’s Dead

Comedy Central recently announced that 31-year-old South African Trevor Noah will take over for Jon Stewart as the next host of ‘The Daily Show’. As we detailed exhaustively in this post of ‘Everything You Need To Know About Trevor Noah, Trevor is a lifelong stand-up comedian who has made a living out of making people to laugh. But what makes people laugh obviously changes year after year alongside the comedic zeitgeist, and what might have been acceptably funny a few years ago is no longer considered appropriate in BuzzFeed’s America.

After Trevor Noah was announced as the next host of ‘The Daily Show‘ the villages quickly gathered up their pitchforks and set out to find anything and everything that would elicit outrage. What the hive mind has gathered up are a few tweets from years past where Mr. Noah made jokes that at the time people found funny (hence the RT’s), but today people are all up in arms about how he’s a fat-chick hating jew persecutor. Here are the two main tweets fueling the fire of outrage:

Here are what the people have to say about him on Twitter so far:

There’s also a lot of racism being tossed his way as well, but I left that out of the screenshots.

Listen up you sensitive pricks: he’s a fucking comedian. His entire job revolves around saying outrageous things to get people to laugh. You really think Jon Stewart didn’t say some outrageous shit back before Twitter existed?

Jews outraged over the latter tweet might be shocked to know his mother is Jewish.

It’s unfortunate that Mr. Noah’s already embroiled in scandal over thing he said long before he ever had designs of being on TV, but that’s the state of the media today. Shit you say on Twitter from back in 2006 when it was launched can come back to haunt you in a job interview 25 years from now. Also: comedy is dead. When the day came where comedians were no longer allowed to make jokes, comedy died.

Did he wake up the mornings of those tweets and think ‘today I’m going to be mean as fuck to this demographic!’? No. The answer is no. He woke up, his deranged comedic mind thought of something that would both shock some people and humor others, and he put it up on Twitter. That’s how comedians operate.

Comedy Central is unfazed by any of the angry villagers calling for Trevor’s blood and this afternoon released a statement to BuzzFeed News:

Like many comedians, Trevor Noah pushes boundaries; he is provocative and spares no one, himself included. To judge him or his comedy based on a handful of jokes is unfair. Trevor is a talented comedian with a bright future at Comedy Central.
