George R.R. Martin Just Shot Down One Of The Biggest Theories That ‘Game Of Thrones’ Fans Have Come Up With

The A Song of Ice and Fire series has spawned approximately 1,000,000,000 fan theories, spanning from subjects like “What if Ned Stark isn’t dead and he’s actually just the Headless Horseman from Sleepy Hollow” to “Jon Snow is actually a Targaryen.” However, there’s one theory in particular that George R.R. Martin has decided to take time out of his very busy day spent not writing books to disprove, and it’s that he’s secretly finished writing the series but holding back the release dates to increase their value.

Dick move, but at least it’s not true.

“From my point of view, the craziest one is the people who believe that I’ve actually finished all of the books, and I’m just sitting on them for some reason in order to get more money or increase the value, you know, to release them an appropriate point,” said Martin. “That’s a pretty crazy one, but there seem to be people who actually believe that.”

Further proving his point, Martin has stated he won’t write a script for Season 5 of the HBO show because he’s working on the next book in the A Song of Ice and Firefantasy series, The Winds of Winter.

Of course that’s what he’d say if he were actually holding back the books for more cash. Get your tinfoil hats ready people, it’s conspiracy time!

However, Martin has said in the past that a few readers have figured out certain upcoming plot points from the subtle clues he’s put throughout the books…but obviously he won’t say which theories are true.

The only thing we do know for sure? That Martin is taking for-fucking-ever to finish the damn book series. UGH.
