Lane-splitting is pretty much illegal everywhere in the United States except California. For some reason it's still perfectly legal in the Golden State. Just because it's legal, however, doesn't mean you're not an asshole if you do it. Biker Bro Philip Caputo got caught in some gnarly traffic in Burbank last week and cut through the middle by lane-splitting. When he stopped at the light, a pick-up truck pulled next to him in the right turning lane. What-do-you-know when it turns out to be actor Shia LaBeouf behind the wheel, staring down Caputo.
A few thoughts: As Gawker notes, Shia LaBeouf owns a motorcycle, so perhaps he wasn't all that pissed about the lane-splitting. BUT HOW DID HE CATCH UP TO HIM SO FAST?! Also, why the hell did he wait so long to take a right turn? Kinda rude to just stare this dude down while the cars behind him are waiting to take a turn. No?
