Jon Stewart Took On The Confederate Flag Controversy, Provided A Very Reasonable Alternative

As you may have heard, there has been a bit of a kerfuffle over the Confederate flag of late. Naturally, this issue was prime target shooting material for Jon Stewart on Wednesday night’s The Daily Show.

Over the past few days many have painfully tried to defend the flag by saying it represents Southern heritage and history and honors those who fought in the Civil War. Stewart, however, shoots those claims down like a sniper…

“They fought for the South against the United States because of slavery. That’s the heritage you’re defending. I’m sure your soldier ancestors had other redeeming qualities, but this is the thing that they’re known for,” says Stewart. “It’d be like saying you support flying the Nazi flag because you’re proud of their robust anti-smoking agenda. But that wasn’t really their thing.”

But Stewart doesn’t want the South to have no flag at all to express pride in their Southern heritage so he offers up a very appropriate and tasty replacement.
