John Mayer had a brief hosting gig on The Late Late Show last night (February 6th), and it’s left me with only 2 questions:
- What is The Late Late Show?
- How big of a child is Taylor Swift?
Despite Swift being supposedly 25-years-old, according to John Mayer when it comes to ex-boyfriends she acts like a child. How does he know this? Why because the two dated briefly in 2009, and by “briefly” I mean “long enough for Taylor to write a song about him”…so anywhere upwards of 5 minutes, really. There’s even a chance all he did was wink at her from across a crowded room and then she got pissed when he didn’t follow up on it.
Well now that Mayer is maybe-but-maybe-not-idk-you-decide dating Katy Perry again, it’s no surprise that he threw Taylor Swift a fat diss during his Late Show monologue last night:
“You can see me at the Grammys doing what I do best, being avoided by Taylor Swift…that won’t make the Internet at all.”
To be fair, that’s about the biggest insult you can give Taylor Swift without inciting a million preteens into blowing up your Twitter feed and sending you death threats. Hell, anything worse and fucking Lorde gets involved, whereas anything less everyone calls “stupid/shitty” and “Katy Perry you’re an idiot.” So kudos to John Mayer for finding that lovely middle ground where people will still talk about it but he won’t have to wear a bullet-proof vest for the next week whenever he walks around in public. That’s a still not everyone can say they’ve mastered.
