George RR Martin Says That The Ending For ‘Game Of Thrones’ Will Not Be The Depressing Shitshow Everyone’s Expecting

We can sit here and conjecture all we like about how Game of Thrones will end, but in reality there’s only 3 people who know for sure what’s going to happen, those 3 being George RR Martin, David Benioff and D.B. Weiss (those last 2 names being the lead writers on the television show). Martin can hint at it all he wants, but in reality we should all know by now that he’s not going to actually give anything concrete away. Regardless, if you’re looking to torture yourself over how the show/book series will end, Martin describes it as “bittersweet”:

‘I think you need to have some hope… we all yearn for happy endings in a sense. Myself, I’m attracted to the bittersweet ending,’ he told students at Northwestern University’s Medill School of Journalism in the US.

‘People ask me how Game of Thrones is gonna end, and I’m not gonna tell them… but I always say to expect something bittersweet in the end.’(via)

This should come as a shock to no one, considering this is a series known for killing off its main characters without a single fuck given (see: Red Wedding). If you ask me I’d say that Daenerys definitely makes it to the end, probably Arya makes it and Jon Snow as well, but as for the rest of them? Cersei gon’ die, Jaime will probably die and while I’d like to say Tyrion makes it to the end there’s really no point because remember how I said no one fucking knows what’s going to happen up in the beginning of this post? Yeah, well NO ONE FUCKING KNOWS.

Patience is a virtue, bitches.
