Epic ‘Game Of Thrones’ Theory About The Mountain Could Be True After Dead Character Was Seen Near Filming Locations

CLEGANEBOWL.

Don’t know what that means? Then fuck off. Okay, fine, don’t fuck off, but on the real you’re missing out. Cleganebowl is literally the BEST Game of Thrones / A Song of Ice and Fire theory currently out there, and it involves The Mountain and The Hound (the Clegane brothers, if you will), coming together for A GODDAMN BATTLE TO THE DEATH during…well, spoilers. Here’s a handy-dandy video for you if you’d like some background on why The Hound could maybe still be alive:

For those of you who were too lazy to watch the video, the theory is (SPOILERS) basically that for Cersei’s upcoming trial against the Faith she’ll choose Ser Robert Strong, that creepy zombie dude who we saw Qyburn working on down in the dungeons during season 6. If you’re stupid and never put two and two together, Ser Robert Strong is actually the reanimated corpse of The Mountain, who died from the poison that Oberyn Martell had laced his spear with during their trial by combat.

As for how The Hound plays into this, well, the Faith (all the self-righteous priests running around Kings Landing) will choose him as their champion. The theory goes on to state that he managed to survive his wounds since season 4 and has been living out the remainder of his life as a gravedigger on the Quiet Isle (there’s book support for this notion detailed in the video). Assuming this happens, Sandor will finally have a chance to fight his older brother, Gregor, and for BONUS points since The Hound is the “little brother” to Gregor it would fulfill Maggy the Frog’s “Valonqar” prophecy against Cersei. Don’t know what prophecy I’m talking about? That’s because the flashback to Cersei meeting Maggy in season 6 didn’t show the whole thing, with a missing part of it being that Cersei will die at the hands of a Valonqar, which is High Valyrian for “little brother.” Could mean Jaime, could mean Tyrion, or could mean The Hound. We don’t know yet.

Hopefully by now you’ve realized that with all the talk of The Mountain being supposedly alive, that this whole thing is leading up to telling you that The Mountain is supposedly alive. Maybe. Depending. According to Watchers on the Wall,

I’ve heard from a source whom I trust, who has provided us reliable information going back several years, that Rory McCann was seen recently staying at a hotel in Belfast commonly used by HBO andGame of Thrones cast members during filming.

Currently, McCann has no other projects scheduled, or any other reason to be in Belfast that we’re aware of. Book readers have their theories as to how the Hound- or rather, Sandor Clegane might return. But it wouldn’t be the first time Game of Thrones has diverged from the original story if they choose a different version for the return of Sandor Clegane.

So does this mean Cleganebowl, aka the battle of the goddamn century is confirmed? No…but is it time to get hype. Yes. All aboard the hype train, choo-motherfucking-choo.
