‘Furious 7’ Is Breaking Records All Over The Place, One Of Them Over 100 Years-Old

With a little help from Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson and Ronda Rousey the Furious 7 crew blew away two records at the box office, one of them over a century old.

The first record Furious 7 steamrolled was the fact that it was the fastest movie to ever cross the $1 billion mark at the box office. It took Dominic Toretto and friends just 17 days to hit that magical mark. The Avengers, Avatar and Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2 previously held the mark at 19 days.

The second record Furious 7 broke was over 100 years in the making as it was the the first film created by Universal Studios to go past $1 billion in its initial release. That’s significant in the fact that Universal has been making films for 103 years now. Jurassic Park, the other Universal movie to crack $1 billion, didn’t do so until its 3D re-release in 2013.

More amazing stats about Furious 7 include the fact that in it’s fourth week on the music charts the film’s soundtrack returned to the top spot, while in China it took Furious 7 just eight days to gross $250 million.

So will there be a Furious 8? Mixing the fact that Furious 7 is an utter gold mine with the fact that Vin Diesel, The Rock, and none other than Paul Walker himself want there to be one, you can pretty much bank on it.
