Even with the Manti Te'o news story comfortably enshrined in the Weird Sports Hall of Fame for the rest of athletic eternity, much like every news story, its time in the sun is about to come to an end. It sucks. I know. I've watched with glee as it escalated and somehow got weirder and weirder over the last week since the Deadspin story broke, and to realize that it's almost all over is like when you remember that you'll never have your childhood back. (Peak weirdness, since we're in the reminiscing mood, clearly came Reagan Mauia's now-wrong admission that he met Lennay Kekua. That was when everyone in the office yelled "WHAT THE FUCK" more or less at the same time.)

Funny or Die squeezed a little more juice out of the Te'o story today with this obvious, but still pretty funny, recut of the "Catfish" trailer. It's darker than a lot of the parody videos have been, but it really picks up after the first minute. And, more than anything, it's further proof that everyone would kill for a Te'o episode on the MTV show.
