Watch Los Angeles Completely Devolve Into Chaos In First Full Trailer For ‘Fear The Walking Dead’

We brought you the trailer for the 6th season of The Walking Dead straight from Comic-Con, now it’s time for the first full trailer for the prequel/spinoff/compainion series for Fear The Walking Dead.

Set in Los Angeles, FTWD appears that it will give you some insight into how the zombie apocalypse began and what it was like when civilized society fell to the undead, which TWD did not.

The “companion series” will be executive produced by Robert Kirkman, Gale Anne Hurd, Greg Nicotero, David Alpert and showrunner David Erickson and produced by AMC Studios. Co-Executive Producer Adam Davidson, who directed the pilot, is also directing the second and third of six episodes this season. FTWD will not be followed by The Talking Dead, except for the season finale.

“Having society stripped from these people in real-time is going to make this show more emotional, so that’s something that I’m really excited about,” Kirkman said.

The show, which shoots in Vancouver, Canada, stars Kim Dickens (Gone Girl, House of Cards, Sons of Anarchy), Cliff Curtis (Live Free or Die hard, Training Day, Gang Related), Frank Dillane (Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince) and Alycia Debnam-Carey (Into the Storm, The Devil’s Hand The Devil’s Hand) who appears to be the hot girl on the show.

AMC and SundanceTV president and general manager Charlie Collier had this to say:

“Robert Kirkman, Dave Erickson and the fantastic writers, producers, cast and crew responsible for bringing Fear the Walking Dead to life have been hard at work creating an entirely distinct and compelling new series. We join ‘Fear’ before the rise of the zombie apocalypse with an interesting family dynamic as its entry point. After years of planning, that we are now only six weeks from sharing ‘Fear’ with the world is truly exciting.”

“Anticipation around the world for Fear the Walking Dead is reaching a crescendo and we are ecstatic about delivering the series to worldwide fans at the exact same time as the U.S.,” said Bruce Tuchman, President of AMC and Sundance Channel Global. “Whether you’re in Hong Kong, Madrid or São Paulo, AMC viewers will be able to join the journey and experience the start of the zombie apocalypse together.”

Without even one episode airing, AMC purchased the first two seasons of Fear The Walking Dead based solely on how well The Walking Dead does in the ratings. The viewers will be there from the start because of how successful The Walking Dead is, but will people grow tired of the zombie-themed show and will FTWD distance itself far enough from TWD to be it’s own hit television show?

The series is set to premiere on AMC Sunday, August 23rd at 9:00 p.m. EST with an extended 90-minute episode.

P.S. That name still sucks. I understand brand recognition, but this is too close to the original and causes confusion.
