When Emily Ratajkowski first hit the scene, the buzz was that she was a "Nickelodeon girl." This was somewhat true: Ratajkowski had appeared on a show called iCarly as a kid, but you could hardly call her a regular—or so my younger sister tells me. She's mainly been a model. And lately, a topless model. This is why she's (justifiably) famous.
So when David Fincher—who isn't known for making quick, cash-grab films— casts her in a major role opposite Ben Affleck in his next movie Gone Girl, it's kind of surprising. Sure, she's really, really attractive, but can she act? Can she handle complexity? Do we care? At all? These are questions I'm forced to ponder to prevent another viewing of "Blurred Lines."
Ratajkowski plays Andie, a college student who has an affair with Affleck after his wife mysteriously goes missing. The part was apparently "hotly contested." They're joined in the (batshit) cast by Neil Patrick Harris and... Tyler Perry.
