Ah, the ghosts of social media past. Curiously, MTV is "going there" with it's new dating show for 20-somethingss, The Hook Up. It's basically a dating game show a la The Dating Game based on Facebook stalking. The concept is to reveal dirty laundry from each single contestant's old social media posts to discover a perfect match. In the trailer, there's all sorts of embarassing secrets divulged: Condoms falling out infront of grandma, twerking with mom, flirting b.s., and Bros admiting to listening to Taylor Swift. Totes awks for the contestants looking for love, but comedian Andrew Schulz -- of Guy Code fame -- is there to chime in with a wiseass remark about why it's ALL GOOD YOU GUYS.
I guess The Hookup is a reflection of the amazing age we live in. Your at-the-time terrible social media decisions can now be flipped into a way of finding true love. In front of millions of people. Live on MTV. How romantic.
Premieres on Monday, October 14, on MTV.
