CMA Awards Highlights: Women Without Underwear, Ariana Grande’s Odd Performance

The 2014 Country Music Awards took place last night making it, I believe, the 802nd awards show to air on TV this year. As usual, some people won, many, many more lost, but the real stars of the show were Lily Aldridge, Kacey Musgraves and Ariana Grande.

Why supermodel Lily Aldridge was in attendance is a bit of a mystery. Perhaps she was serving as a reminder to everyone that the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show is coming up soon and in doing so decided to go all meta by not wearing ANY lingerie at all under her dress. (Actually as it turns out, it may have been because her sister Ruby, another model, presented an award. Why Ruby was chosen to do that is another mystery.)

Kacey Musgraves had a much better reason to attend as she won Song of the Year for “Follow Your Arrow” and also performed during the show, which she tells us is when she was forced to remove her panties.

As for Ariana Grande, again, we’re not sure really why she was there or why she was chosen to sing her song “Bang, Bang” (a song she recorded with Nicki Minaj and Jessie J) alongside country group Little Big Town during the show, but she probably set a record for the least country music-looking outfit ever worn in the show’s history.
