Watch the Pretty Amazing First Trailer for ‘Godzilla’

I was wrong! And a little too overdramatic! Either Godzilla looks fantastic—and is all set to be the movie Japan's most famous monster deserves after that Puffy-soundtracked 1998 disaster—or the people involved can cut quite a trailer.

The clip opens with a group of paratroopers preparing to descend on a burned-out San Francisco. Not even one Tesla or Google self-driving car can still be found on its streets. The guys then jump to the score from 2001: A Space Odyssey and slowly begin to make out Godzilla below. He looks fucking enormous.

Gareth Edwards, who directed Monster, helms the movie alongside Bryan Cranston, Elizabeth Olsen, and Aaron Taylor-Johnson. Elizabeth solidifies her spot as the Hot Olsen, if that was ever in doubt. And since the trailer (thankfully) doesn't reveal much of the plot, Warner Bros released this statement: “An epic rebirth to Toho’s iconic Godzilla, this spectacular adventure… pits the world’s most famous monster against malevolent creatures who, bolstered by humanity’s scientific arrogance, threaten our very existence.”

Comes out May 16.
