The King’s College women’s basketball team has advanced to the Sweet 16 of the NCAA Division III basketball tournament, but its leading scorer has decided that going on spring break is more important than winning any more games.
Paige Carlin, a senior forward and sixth woman extraordinaire, left for Cancun, Mexico on Sunday, a day after the Lady Monarch’s second-round victory. Vaya con dios, suckers.
We really like where this girl’s head is at. Beer bongs over boxing out. Wet t-shirt contests over layup lines. Senor Frogs over senior year.
The team, shockingly, seems a little ambivalent to her departure.
King's coach Brian Donoghue offered little insight on Carlin's departure after Wednesday's practice, saying his team is focusing only on what they've accomplished to this point and their match-up on Friday against Emmanuel College.
However, it has been learned that Donoghue, along with Carlin's teammates, were not informed of Carlin's decision until after the fact.
"We're not letting it be a distraction," Donaghue said. "We'll be fine.
Carlin’s name has been removed from the roster and presumably found a new home on the hand of some sweaty dude right above her phone number.
Get it, girl.
