NCAA to Hand Down ‘Unprecedented’ Penalties to Penn State, Plus Joe Paterno’s Statue is Removed

As promised, Penn State removed Joe Paterno's statue this morning. In perhaps even bigger news, CBS News is reporting that the NCAA will hand down "unprecedented" penalties against both the PSU football team and the school.

According to CBS News:

"I've never seen anything like it," the source told correspondent Armen Keteyian.

NCAA President Mark Emmert will make the announcement Monday morning at 9 a.m. at the organization's headquarters in Indianapolis.

The penalties come in the wake of the independent report by former FBI Director Louis Freeh that chronicled repeated efforts by four top Penn State officials, including former football Joe Paterno, to conceal allegations of serial child sex abuse by Jerry Sandusky over a 14-year period.

I'm all for extreme justice (in most instances), but the NCAA better allow every PSU athlete transfer without having to sit out a year. They had no hand in this, there is no reason to punish them.
