Hero FSU Fraternity Brothers Thwart Assault On Female Student

Fraternities are under attack because of a handful of highly publicized, but isolated instances of extremely, extremely poor judgement by a few brainless individuals.

While these repulsive stories have garnered negative nationwide exposure, these detestable acts do not reflect the large majority of young men who are abiding by the law, attempting to get an education and have a little fun along the way.

There have been some, including Will Ferrell, who have said that maybe it’s time for fraternities to go away forever.

However this is something the national news doesn’t tell you. Not every frat guy is chanting racist hate speech such as the abhorrent members of the SAE fraternity at the University of Oklahoma. And no, not all frat guys from Florida State are chomping off the heads of defenseless hamsters. In fact, some FSU frat guys are real-life heroes.

WTLX in Tallahassee, Florida brings us the story of how several members of the Kappa Alpha Psi fraternity thwarted a sexual assault by a criminal.

Early Wednesday morning around 12 a.m., the frat members noticed a female student was being accosted by 24-year-old Patrick Furman near the Oglesby Student Union.

From WTXL:

The victim later told police the suspect came up behind her, grabbed her chest, and attempted to pull her away. She says all the while, he was telling her “Come with me. Just come with me.”

That’s when these brave fraternity members jumped into action and chased after the deviant. The good-doers gave a description of the culprit to a public service officer, who then passed that information to campus police.

While Furman was running away from the frat, he unknowingly encountered a FSU police officer and asked to let him get in the backseat of his unmarked vehicle. The officer happily obliged and let him in the back of the police cruiser, then took him to jail. Sometimes luck breaks like it should, but he’s still moronic shithead.

FSU Police Chief David Perry applauded the frat members:

“With their help, and swift coordination with our uniformed and plainclothes officers, FSU stood united to stop this offender and ensure he was taken into custody. We want to say loudly and clearly that anyone who seeks to harm our students will be dealt with using every resource we have.”

Meanwhile Furman was booked into the Leon County Jail. He was charged with kidnapping, aggravated assault and misdemeanor battery charges. Apparently Furman really likes jail because only three days earlier, he was released from a Gadsden County prison after serving a five year prison term for aggravated battery with intended harm, and for escaping a treatment program.

See, frat bros really aren’t all dregs of society.
