Susan Paola Fadel Correia had a problem. Her year-end university project was due soon. She may have procrastinated on it, or she may have found it too difficult to complete. Whatever the case, the project wasn't done, and Susan was staring down a tough deadline.
So, she faked her own kidnapping. From the Associated Press:
Para state's civil police say on their website that 22-year-old Susan Paola Fadel Correia initially alleged she was abducted last week by three men, then was tied up and held for 24 hours before being released.
Yesterday, Susan acknowledged that she had made up the story and that she spent the 24 hours at the home of a friend. According to the arresting officer, Gilvandro Furtado, "Fadel explained that she 'didn't want to upset her mother' with news of her problems at school."
No word yet whether she actually turned in the project. Regardless, kids, don't follow her lead—just say you have the stomach flu like everyone else.
