Chart Shows How Liking Certain Bands Relates To Your SAT Score

If you like Beyonce, Lil Wayne, Justin Timberlake or Carrie Underwood, then, according to this chart, there’s a good chance you either didn’t fare very well on the SAT or you won’t, depending on your age.

Virgil Griffith, the creator of this chart called “Music That Makes You Dumb,” explains on his Web site, “I’ve listened to artists who after listening to I thought to myself ‘Wow… loving this rubbish says a lot about someone and how much they got going on in their head.’ Could one’s musical tastes say something about intelligence? How about SAT scores? Well, like any good scientist, I decided to see how well my personal experience matches reality. How might one do this?”

The answer to that, according to him, is to take the most liked artists at assorted colleges and plot those artists against the average SAT score of those schools.

Of course, this should all be taken with a grain of salt as Griffith even points out…

Yes, I’m aware correlation ≠ causation. The results are hilarity incarnate regardless of causality. You can stop sending me email about this distinction. Thanks.

Then again, if Beethoven is your favorite artist, well, you can just go to hell.
