As you’ve probably realized by now, BroBible was down at SXSW, the 10-day festival that brings out hoards of musicians, celebrities, brands, media, bros, babes, and frightening amounts of hipsters to consume music, booze, and the good old town of Austin, TX.
We threw our own jam on Tuesday night with Windows Phone, which was obviously THE best party of the week, but we also got to jump from spot to spot to check out some other not too shabby parties during SX. It’s taken us nearly two weeks to get our heads back on straight after the tireless best party research, but after careful deliberation, we’ve put together a list of the absoute 10 best parties of SXSW, no questions asked (behind the BroBible and Windows Phone party, of course).
10. Hornitos Rachael Ray Party

Talent: The Bravery, J Roddy, The Cringe, Wanda Jackson, Tapes ‘N Tapes, Fitz and the Tantrums, FreeSol, etc. ZZ Top and Jimmy Kimmel were the surprise guests.
Believe it or not, this yappy, overly-caffeinated, media diva throws a pretty solid SXSW party, although it probably has more to do with the tequila than the cougar herself. Great performances, special appearances, and the unveiling of Hornitos’ new Horns Up campaign set the scene for a 3-day jam.
9. AOL party at Stubb’s

Talent: TV on the Radio, Charles Bradley & Menahan Street Band, Portugal. The Man, Noah and the Whale, Foster the People.
This was our first party at Stubb’s BBQ and I quickly realized why this is one of the best music venues of SXSW. A huge stage, bars in every direction, and a massive pit to make it feel like a real concert space rather than a restaurant or bar. TV on the Radio didn’t hurt either.
8. Maxim / Paul Movie Party

Talent: DJ Mia Moretti
Shakespeare’s is the typical dive bar you would drink at in college and our friends at Maxim and Universal made sure it stayed that way, which was rad. Simon Pegg and Nick Frost, the stars of Paul, made appearances and DJ Mia Moretti spun the shit out of the party. If you haven’t checked her out yet, you need to.
7. Vimeo and Nikon Present Light After Dark @ Seaholm PowerPlant

Talent: Diplo and Eclectic Method
This was the first big interactive party we hit after touching down in Austin and I have to say, there was something insanely comedic about watching a bunch of tech geeks rave. Despite this humorous display, bottomless beers and Diplo tearing the house down set the stage for a sweaty and drunken night, acting as a beautiful welcoming party to SXSW.
6. SPIN at Stubbs Sponsored by Blackbeard Rum

Talent: TV on the Radio, The Kills, Wolfgang Gartner, Skrillex, and more
It was hot as shit on Friday, which meant two things; babes wearing less clothes and the looming risk of dehydration. Fortunately, the Blackbeard Rum open bar ensured we wouldn’t dehydrate and the babes showed up in droves. Indie to electro to indie to electro made for a pretty eclectic mix, but the beats plus booze and babes tied together beautifully.
5. Green Label Sound Showcase Sponsored by Mountain Dew

Talent: Chromeo, Classixx, The Cool Kids, Mac Miller, MNDR @ La Zona Rosa
A sick lineup, solid venue, and awesome crowd took this up the list. There were a lot of other shows on Friday, but I’m glad we trekked over to the West side to stop in here. Chromeo and Mac Miller were the highlights.
4. Pepsi Max Party @ Seaholm Power Plant Featuring Big Boi

Talent: Big Boi and The Sounds
It wouldn’t be a Big Boi show without a couple of dozen white girls getting pulled up on stage to get down like spicy white girls do. Oh wait; it was still the interactive portion of SX… Maybe not the spiciest, but they did their best. Fortunately, one of the hottest Swedish babes of all time and the rest of The Sounds opened the night and Daddy Fat Stacks himself delivered all the way to make for a killer night.
3. AM Only Showcase Sponsored by Blackberry and DipDive @Mohawk

Talent: MSTRKRFT, Skrillex, 12th Planet
Fuck yes. That’s all I have to say. Dub step and electro dropped HARD and all three acts crushed it. Mohawk is also one of the sweetest venues in Austin.
2. Virgin Mobile Live House

Talent: Too many to name
In true Virgin brand fashion, King Bro Ron Faris and the Virgin Mobile team skipped the one-off, over-the-top blowout party and opted to create the Virgin Mobile Live House, an oasis away from the madness during the Music portion of SXSW. The pad was tricked out with couches, loungers, re-charge stations, open bar, a back yard, and indoor / outdoor musical acts. It also played host to easily the best crop of smokes in all of SXSW. On that note, we’re definitely going to FreeFest and you probably should too, which means you need to Like Virgin Mobile Live on Facebook immediately to make sure you don’t miss out.
1. Vevo Power Station Party @ Seaholm Power Plant

Talent: Kanye, Jay-Z, Mos Def, Kid Cudi, and more.
Sadly, we headed back to NYC on Saturday so we couldn’t hit this one – huge mistake. Yes, Vevo totally butchered the ticket allocation. Yes, it was poorly organized. Yes, it was supposed to be a ‘secret’ show that definitely wasn’t a secret. But, holy shit, look at the line up. Of course it wins. The picture above comes courtesy from our boys at Lucky Rabbit Films, who weren’t lucky enough to win one of the text spots.
