Here’s the latest information on the health status of comedian/actor Tracy Morgan who was involved in a fatal vehicle accident over the weekend, plus some reactions from the celebrity world. Morgan reportedly suffered numerous injuries in the massive crash including broken ribs, a broken nose, and a broken femur.
Reports People magazine…
“While Tracy remains in critical condition, he has been more responsive today, which is an incredibly encouraging sign,” his rep said in a statement.
“He sustained a number of injuries including a broken leg, a broken femur, a broken nose and several broken ribs. He had surgery earlier today on his leg. We expect him to remain in the hospital for several weeks. His family is tremendously overwhelmed and appreciative of the outpouring of love and support from his fans.”
The accident on the New Jersey Turnpike Saturday morning that resulted in the death of comedian James McNair and injuries to at least four others was described as “horrific” by an eyewitness…
“My husband saw the Walmart truck swerving, and he slammed on the brakes. The truck hit the Mercedes, and then it hit the guard rail and another white SUV. It was like a movie in slow motion. The Mercedes spun out of control and then flipped over and came to rest on the driver’s side.”
She continued…
“Because the SUV was lying on the driver’s side, the passenger’s side was now facing up. The driver had gotten out and was standing on top of the passenger’s side. He and someone else, I think a passenger, were trying to get people out. The passenger was trying to rip out the divider between the front seat and the back of the SUV. The windshield was broken. You could see blood everywhere. You could tell it was really bad.”
She then described the scene as emergency services began to arrive…
The cops arrived first, and they got everyone out of the way. Then the fire trucks arrived and had to cut the van apart to get people out. Then the paramedics arrived. At that point, it was really chaotic, and we knew we had to get out of the way, so it was time for us to go. It was a horrific sight and we just hope that everyone is okay.
The driver of the semi-truck that allegedly caused the accident, Kevin Roper, has been charged with death by auto and assault by auto after turning himself in to authorities.
