The Rock is starting to become a caricature of himself

Anyone who follows Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson on Twitter or Instagram knows how much he likes telling people HOW DAMN HARD he works and the AMAZING things he does, but yesterday it officially moved into Uncle Rico territory.

The Rock captioned the video you see below with…

“I asked the prop department to lock me in with real steel chains that I couldn’t break, so the performance would be real. When HERCULES finally accepts his fate of being the son of Zeus, it’s THE epic moment of the mythology – and our movie. We shot this scene 8 times – I blacked out every time. Down to my knees. Well worth the fun pain.. this moment is iconic. Im excited for you to see it… #HercDontLikeBlackingOut #HappilyDoItAgain #HERCULESMovie”

Wow.

“I blacked out 8 times, dude. But I’d totally do it again, bro.” Why do we need to know this? Can he not turn off the promo machine he made famous in wrestling or is this his way of reinforcing to himself that he’s tough? Because we already think he’s tough as hell without him telling us every damn day.

I can just hear The Rock 20 years from now…

The Rock: “Back in ’02, I used to be able to throw a pigskin a quarter mile.”
Nephew: “Are you serious?”
The Rock: “I’m dead serious.”

We get it Rock, you’re a real life badass. No doubt. We envy and admire the hell out of you for it. But real badasses don’t have to CONSTANTLY tell everyone what a badass they are. Slow your roll a little. Seriously. It’s not necessary.

(I’m a dead man now, aren’t I?)
