With all the lesbian talk last week, Gillian Anderson saying she’s had affairs with women, Meghan McCain denying that she’s into girls, we thought we’d have a look at some of the sexiest celebrity women who’ve gone over to the other side.
And though some of these women claim to not be lesbians, they all admit to having dalliances with women, which last time I checked was kind of the opposite of being straight, therefore they make this list of sexiest celebrity lesbians. Hopefully they’ll take it as the compliment it’s meant to be.
10 Clementine Ford
Clementine Ford, 32, daughter of actress Cybill Shepherd, and former star of the Showtime series The L Word, was married to actor Chad Todhunter before divorcing in 2004 after four years of marriage. In 2009, Ford announced that she was in a relationship with musician and record producer Linda Perry. That relationship has since ended.
9 Michelle Rodriguez
33 year-old Michelle Rodriguez has stated that she is not a lesbian, despite rumors of her and a female co-star on the film Bloodrayne being in a relationship. However, in an interview with the UK edition of Cosmopolitan magazine Rodriguez did admit that she had “experimented with both sexes.”
8 Anne Heche
42 year-old Anne Heche had a very public relationship with Ellen Degeneres from 1997 to 2000. Since her relationship with Ellen ended Heche has been married and had a son with a cameraman named Coleman Laffoon. The two of them separated in 2007 and were divorced in 2009. She is now with Men in Trees co-star James Tupper, with whom she also has a son.
7 Gillian Anderson
Just last week, Gillian Anderson, 43, revealed to the world in an interview with Out magazine that she not only had a long-term lesbian relationship in high school, she has also had other affairs with women. She says that those relationships have however, “been the exception and not the rule.”
6 Portia de Rossi
Australian-born actress Portia de Rossi, 39, has been in a relationship with Ellen Degeneres since 2004. The two were married on on August 16, 2008 and her legal name is now Portia Lee James DeGeneres. From 1996 to 1999 de Rossi was married to a male film-maker named Mel Metcalfe as part of a plan to get a green card and because she was fearful of being exposed as a lesbian in Hollywood.
5 Lindsay Lohan
Tabloid favorite Lindsay Lohan, 25, maintained a very public relationship with DJ Samantha Ronson during 2008 and 2009. Despite this relationship she has stated publicly that she is not a lesbian. However, when Lohan was asked if she is bisexual her response was, “Maybe. Yeah. I don’t want to classify myself.”
4 Anna Paquin
Golden Globe winner Anna Paquin, 29, married her True Blood co-star Stephen Moyer in August of 2010, but not before coming out as bisexual in a public service announcement for the “Give a Damn” campaign in April of the same year, saying “I’m Anna Paquin. I’m bisexual and I give a damn.”
3 Evan Rachel Wood
24 year-old Golden Globes-nominated actress Evan Rachel Wood, who was once engaged to Marilyn Manson, came out as bisexual in an interview with Esquire magazine in April of 2011. She said of her relationships, “I’m more kind of like the guy when it comes to girls. I’m the dominant one. I’m opening the doors, I’m buying dinner. Yeah, I’m romantic.”
2 Kristanna Loken
Kristanna Loken, 32, once stated in an interview with Curve magazine, “I have dated and have had sex with men and women, and have to say that the relationships I have had with certain women have been much more fulfilling, sexually and emotionally, than of those with certain men.” Despite all that she married actor Noah Danby in 2008, but they separated and in 2009 stated that she was in a relationship with a woman. (Loken was that aforementioned female co-star on the film Bloodrayne, by the way.)
1 Amber Heard
The most publicized outing of a celebrity lesbian in recent memory was that of actress Amber Heard, 25. Heard came out in 2010 at GLAAD’s 25th anniversary event announcing that she was in a relationship with artist Tasya van Ree (who would be on this list as well if she was a tad more famous). Says Heard, “I don’t label myself one way or another – I have had successful relationships with men and now a woman. I love who I love; it’s the person that matters.”
