challenge

The prospects for an NBA season just went from not so good to absolutely awful as the NBA Players Association plans to reject the owners' proposed collective bargaining agreement and disband the union. Such a move would probably put a kibosh on the entire season, which, you know, makes a whole lot of sense. Good grief. The NBAPA also plans to pursue an antitrust lawsuit against the NBA.

Just about the only thing that could save the season would be if the owners were so shocked by the rejection of their proposal and are so afraid of losing an entire season's worth of revenue that they scramble and put forth a proposal tonight that would hold off the dissolving of the players association. David Stern has remained pretty hard-nosed throughout this entire process, but maybe he's afraid of having a canceled season on his legacy and makes one more push. We shall see. In the meantime, is it too late for Kyrie Irving to come back to Duke for his sophomore year?
