A Brief Guide to the 2010 Winter Olympics (With Opening Ceremony Drinking Game!)
by joePA | February 12, 2010 at 6:32 p.m.
It's easy to mock the Winter Olympic Games if you're never laced-up ice skates, strapped into a pair of ski bindings, or rode a snowboard through a half-pipe. Following in the wake of the most-watched Super Bowl of all time, NBC's powerful, 24/7 buzz machine may bastardize the athletic extravaganza into a collective public yawn, taking away from the hard-earned athletic accomplishments at stake in Vancouver. Plus, it's also the one time every four years that the world rolls its eyes while pretending to care about sports like curling, the ski jump, and the biathlon.

Football on American Samoa is Serious Business
by joePA | January 18, 2010 at 5:32 p.m.
If you tuned into the Jets/Chargers divisional championship game yesterday, there's a pretty good chance you saw the commercial promos for a '60 Minutes' report about American football in the tiny South Pacific island of American Samoa. Obviously CBS positioned and hyped-up the story to bring in football fans. Nonetheless, some of the details about American football on the island are fascinating. According to the report, the island of about 65,000 total residents is a breeding ground for powerhouse NFL talent. Currently there are over 30 NFL players of Samoan descent, including the Troy Polamalu, Chris Fuamatu-Ma'afala, and Jonathan Fanene. Two-thirds of the island's population live beneath the poverty line and high school teams must practice and play on unsafe donated equipment from the United States. However, Samoan football players are estimated to have about a 40% better chance at entering the NFL than a high school football player in the United States. Check out the story after the jump. Oscar Wilde once asked asked if life imitated art or art imitated life. The aphorism continues to baffle both writers, Hollywood directors, actors, and liberal arts students. Porn, on the other hand, seems to have the ability to transcend these weighty philosophical discussions and imitate both. An illuminating example is the adult entertainment industry's infamous habit of creating spoofs of blockbuster movies. Timeless novelty titles such as "In Diana Jones", "Star Whores," "Dial M for Missionary," "When Harry Ate Sally," and "Edward Penishands," take a cinematic experience to an X-rated -- albeit somewhat trashy -- new level. If imitation is the highest form of flattery, than a provocative porn parody with an ingenious title may be the ultimate barometer for measuring whether or not something has truly made a blip on the zeitgeist. Who Made it to the Season Finale of 'The Ruins'?

As a little change of pace, I decided to switch things up and roll with a running diary of MTV's "Real World Road Rules Challenge" episode as opposed to doing the usual review. Without any idea of what to expect from this episode, I figured I'd bring the unexpected as well. Now only if Kelly Anne could show up at my doorstep right now dressed only in a trenchcoat, that would be really unexpected...Favorite Bro Characters in TV or Movies
