In 2006, the NFL decided to make touchdowns less fun. A rule was put in stating that penalties and fines would be issued for certain celebrations. No more excessive celebrating, using props, or "going to the ground." I generally don't see how such celebrating was a problem; I can see that at times it is disrespectful towards the opponent, but most of the time it's just in good fun. I miss seeing what the players could come up with after a score, and so rounded up and ranked my top five NFL touchdown celebrations that probably sparked the rule change in the first place.

Can't start the list without letting you know who just missed out on the top five. Gus Frerotte decided it would be a good idea to run into a concrete wall head first. Turns out this was not a very good idea (half way down the page) and he missed the rest of the game with neck pain, go figure. My other favorites include Steve Smith rowing the Vikings love boat, Ochocinco doing his best Tiger Woods impression, and, of course, T.O. pulling out the Sharpie and autographing the ball. Did he really have that in his sock the whole time, because that is awesome? You have to think a lot before you pretend the ball is a chainsaw right... right? Some of these are actually not on YouTube as single clips, which is unbelievable in this day and age, so here is an ESPN compilation of a bunch of them.

Enough talking about what's not on the list; let's get to who's on it.

5. Coming in at #5 we have Chad Ochocinco jumping into the Dog Pound against the Browns. It takes a lot of guts to do this, and he certainly paid for it as one fan poured a whole beer on his back. This celebration was especially hilarious because he told the media he was going to do it a week earlier. I had to add another celebration to the five spot because I could not leave out Chad proposing to a cheerleader a la Ian Johnson.
