A Great Season of 'Entourage' Ends With an Even Better Finale

by AG | October 5, 2009 at 5:31 p.m.

We'd be remiss if we let the whole day pass by without mentioning the fact that we were right all along about this season of "Entourage." O.K., so they never let Vince get into any real trouble with the paparazzi or gossip websites or sex tapes, as we suggested several times -- and still predict might happen next year. But we nailed almost every other plot point we could reasonably see coming from the first episode, and, more importantly, maintained correctly that even in its sixth season and even with all the haters out there, "Entourage" remained relevant, hilarious, and a lot of fun.

So let's review our July 13th predictions and relish in last night's episode of Matt Damon outbursts, Ari's paintball firings, Bono and LeBron cameos, and E finally popping the question.  Keep Reading »

Has the College Football Season Jumped the Shark Like 'Entourage'?

by JR | September 28, 2009 at 4:54 p.m.

Even the most loyal of "Entourage" enthusiasts have to be disappointed with the current season, if not only for the mere fact that that show has become borderline unentertaining (where have the big Hollywood parties gone? Why does Vince do nothing but sit at home all day?), but also that it seems to lack an overall direction. In seasons past, each episode could stand on its own -- 25 minutes of innovative and enjoyable television. Nowadays, not so much.

In this sixth season, we the viewers are stuck watching a tired plot line slowly develop over the course of the 11 episodes thus far. Like we needed Ashley to be in more scenes than Vince or believe that Turtle would be motivated to go to college when he could still be living on easy street. The whole thing makes you want to scream, "What the hell is going on?"

The thing about it is, you can ask yourself the very same question about the current college football campaign. Consider the following: Through four weeks of games, nine different teams ranked among the top 10 have suffered a loss, with only Florida and Texas steadily holding down the top two spots. USC lost to an upstart Washington squad that turned around and was manhandled by Stanford; Boise State is currently ranked as the fifth best team in the nation; and Oklahoma is back in the mix despite playing without its Heisman quarterback. What the hell is going on?  Keep Reading »

'Entourage' Hijinks, Football Galore, Tiger Goes for Another, and the Glory of America's National Parks

by AG | September 25, 2009 at 7:21 p.m.

Just a quick word about two TV shows Sunday night. Back at the beginning of the season, we predicted that "Entourage" would finally enter the world of paparazzi and gossip websites and YouTube scandals, which had been all but absent in the first five seasons. Our first guess was that with Vince becoming more independent, earning his driver's license, and shooting a Ferrari biopic that he would end up in some DUI-related car accident. Hasn't happened. Then we saw that young co-ed pull out the video camera in her dorm room while Vinny fucked her, and predicted a major sextape scandal. Turns out all we got out of that was some sorority girls stealing Turtle's underwear. So far. Now comes the YouTube video above of apparently Adrian Grenier shooting a video for a charity, with Matt Damon directing him. As you'll see, Matt and Adrian don't quite see eye to eye, and the video of the ensuing "set explosion" was just "leaked out" to the Internet. As many have pointed out elsewhere, the video is of course a fake, or at least a fictional scene between Vinny and Matt Damon, with Ari looking on in horror in the background. So HBO thought they'd be clever and leak the "set explosion" to YouTube just as it will happen in the real show. We suppose it's clever, especially in this age of Christian Bale videos (though wouldn't Vinny be the one flipping out, not Damon?). Anyway, we still think our two predicted scandals would have been more interesting. But maybe that's why we're in a small office in New York and not (YET!) in Hollywood showrunning our own HBO series.

Last soapbox statement: We know most of you will be tuning in to see Peyton vs. Warner Sunday night -- or all the shows on HBO and Showtime -- but we highly recommend the new Ken Burns documentary, "The National Parks," which airs at 8 p.m. on PBS, and will continue all next week. We know, we know, it's PBS... and Ken Burns. But he's a master documentarian and if watching any part of this documentary doesn't make you want to drop everything and go on an adventure in one of our country's awe-inspiring national parks -- remember that, as all the ads say, YOU own all 84 million acres -- then you should just go live underground with the mole people in the subways.

Enjoy your weekends and Oktoberfest, but NO DRUNK DRIVING.

As Predicted, a Major Vinny Chase Sex Tape Scandal is About to Rock 'Entourage'

by AG | August 17, 2009 at 10:49 a.m.

Last month, after watching the first episode of the new season of "Entourage" -- and no advanced episodes -- we offered up five predictions for what might happen to our favorite crew of Hollywood misfits. None of the five have come to full fruition just yet, but we're getting awfully close on some of them.

Last night, E finally manned up and admitted he still had a thing for Sloan, which lost him his pouty, whiny, stick figure of a girlfriend, but got him a step closer to getting back into bed with Emmanuelle Chriqui. Also as predicted, Andrew, Ari's cheating dipshit of a partner at the agency, is about to get the boot, and although Turtle isn't opening a restaurant or bar as we guessed, he is going back to school to get a degree in something likely business-related. But what about Vince?

After last night's episode, we see a major sex tape scandal on the horizon, and, yes, we (sort of) called it back in July.  Keep Reading »

T.O.'s Show Premieres and 'Entourage's' Sloane Chats up Jimmy Fallon

by Bam Margerbrah | July 20, 2009 at 5:07 p.m.

Ten p.m. is a big time slot tonight with three shows competing for your attention. First off is "The T.O. Show," premiering on Vh1. Can't wait to watch Owens doing sit-ups in his driveway on a TV show instead of just in interviews. T.O., you have one chance to impress me. If you don't want to give him even that, try "Weeds" on Showtime or "Hooked" on National Geographic channel, featuring a 1400-lb. tiger shark caught off the coast of Martha's Vineyard.

Here's tonight's late-night lineup:
"Daily Show": Brian Williams
"Colbert Report": Bob Park
"Letterman": Katherine Heigl, Jeff Altman, Spinnerette
"Conan": Adam Sandler, Peter Sarsgaard, Kate Voegele
"Kimmel": Repeat
"Ferguson": Selma Blair, Connie Schultz
"Fallon": Will Arnett, Emmanuelle Chriqui, Tom Jones

Vinny Chase Arrested? With Episode One in the Books, Five Predictions for This Season of 'Entourage'

by AG | July 13, 2009 at 4:38 p.m.

Like seemingly every guy in America last night (and plenty of girls) we were eagerly awaiting the premiere of "Entourage" last night -- not because we've been blow away by recent seasons, but because we needed something, anything to save us from the summer TV doldrums (no, "True Blood" and "Hung" are not enough). So what did we think of episode 1? Solid. Not amazing, but I think we can all agree that amazing isn't quite possible anymore with this show. Still, the premiere was a good foundation for the sixth season.

We haven't seen any advanced episodes, so we're on the page same as all of you, but already we've got some early predictions as to possible storylines that might play out (this season's tagline, btw, is "Life Changes, Friends Don't"). They involve Vinny getting arrested, Lloyd making agent, and maybe, hopefully, quite possibly, Sloan getting very, very naked. After the jump, our full explanations.  Keep Reading »

The Top 10 'Entourage' Moments That Would Never Have Happened in the Real World

by Thornton Melon | July 9, 2009 at 12:04 p.m.

Entourage returns to HBO on Sunday night (10:30 p.m. ET) and with it comes the glorious life we all wish we had. But is it a little too glorious? As much as I like the show, there are just too many times where I find myself saying, "This would never ever under any circumstance happen in real life" (and I don't just mean Turtle dating Meadow Soprano). So without further ado, here are 10 moments from past seasons of "Entourage" that stretch reality a little too far:

Turtle Gets His Pot Back:

What Happened on the Show: Turtle gets pulled over by cop in a car full of ladies. The cop finds pot in the vehicle and makes Turtle dump it out in a sewer. Shrew Turtle, however, just puts it on a ledge in the sewer instead of pouring it out. Minutes later, after the cop has left, he retrieves the pot and drives away.

What Happens in Real Life: The cop -- jealous that a short, overweight guy named Turtle managed to get himself in a car full of hot chicks -- arrests Turtle. The pot gets taken by the cop, who gives it to his token stoner friend from high school to enjoy.

Kanye Gives the Boys a Ride:

What Happened on the Show: The boys discover that Sydney Pollack, on whose private plane they were supposed to fly to Cannes, doesn't have enough room for everyone. With LAX shut down to due to terror warnings, it appears the gang will miss the premiere of "Medellin." As the group turns to leave the terminal, Kanye West and his entourage roll up and offer Vince and the boys a seat on his plane.

What Happens in Real Life: Kanye West doesn't just happen to stroll by within 30 seconds after the group realizes their trip to Cannes isn't happening. So they go home, Turtle rolls a joint, and Drama makes a big meal while they wallow in their misery.  Keep Reading »

Is the New Season of 'Entourage' Going to Be Exactly Like the Last 5?

by AG | June 16, 2009 at 10:12 a.m.

Season 6 of "Entourage" premieres on July 12, with Vince starring in Marty Scorsese's next flick. Unless the U.S. really does nuke the Middle East, derailing production, as predicted in the spoof video above. [via College Humor]

Playboy Playmate Sues 'Entourage' Guys for Sexual Harrassment

by AG | June 3, 2009 at 12:29 p.m.

To which we ask, what woman in Hollywood hasn't? "Former Playboy Playmate Irina Voronina has accused actors Adrien Grenier and Jeremy Piven, stars of HBO's Entourage, of sexually harassing her and an unnamed co-star when the group shot the show's title sequence in a limo in Hollywood," reports the New York Daily News via MoonDogSports.

" 'After doing two episodes I was asked to do the main title shot in a limo,' says Voronina. 'The boys were very direct about what they wanted to do later. They were hitting on me in a very diminishing way. They made me feel like a piece of meat sitting with a big star. I made it clear there would be no after-party. So the boys complained to the director. We were basically told that we weren't nice to the actors and that we were fired.' " We're not saying this probably didn't happen -- but isn't it a little late to be filing suit?

Check out more of the January 2001 Playmate -- who's got the longest legs we think we've ever seen -- after the jump.  Keep Reading »

Michael Phelps On Entourage

by JF | November 24, 2008 at 3:47 p.m.
Judging by Phelps' cameo on last night's Entourage -- "Yo! Watch out man, what's up?" -- the Olympic gold medalist could probably win a few gold statues for his acting, too. Watch video here. Nailed it.  Keep Reading »

Entourage Finale

by john coctostan | November 24, 2008 at 11:54 a.m.
The 5th season of Entourage came to a close last night and in my opinion, it was the weakest season thus far. The show is masterfully done but I felt this season was off mark. You watch it to see the glitz and glamour...  Keep Reading »

Turtle Lands The Sopranos' Jamie-Lynn Sigler

by JF | November 17, 2008 at 2:53 a.m.
Yes, that Turtle. The two met this summer when Sigler guested on a three-episode arc of Entourage. You'll notice from the linked article that Sigler has high standards and is extremely picky. It all makes sense!  Keep Reading »

Entourage

by Bro Namath | November 12, 2008 at 3:46 p.m.
I'm a big fan of Entourage, mostly due to Jeremy Piven's "I hate everyone and will say it in the most un-PC way possible" attitude. However, a few things are starting to seriously bother me. First, Vince's character has...  Keep Reading »
