19 Must-Ask-For DVDs for Your Christmas List

While a DVD library may seem like a simple concept, it must be finely balanced with the new releases of today and the classics of yesteryear, as well as any worthy TV seasons. Christmas is the perfect opportunity to beef up your collection with Best Buy gift cards and stocking stuffers flying in your direction. Here's a list of DVDs that should be on your list, if they're not already in your collection.
New Releases:
"The Hangover"
The "Wedding Crashers" of 2009, this Golden Globe-nominated comedy is certainly one of the most quotable of the year. Have it on your shelf come spring semester or forever be shunned by your bros.
"Inglourious Basterds"
Another Golden Globe nominee, the latest Quentin Tarantino film stars Brad Pitt as the leader of a Nazi-hunting pack of American soldiers and Christoph Waltz as the wickedly sinister German hunting Jews.
"Star Trek"
Even for the non-Trekkies out there, the J.J. Abrams summer blockbuster gives the classic TV series a modern twist.
"It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia: Its A Very Sunny Christmas"
This show is one of the funniest on television so if you don't already own seasons 1-4, those should be on your list as well. Celebrate the holidays with the gang with this extra-long Christmas episode DVD.
"Terminator Salvation"
The latest installment of the Terminator series includes enough violence and the eternally bad-ass Christian Bale to make it collection worthy.
"Funny People"
Although I found this movie to be about a half an hour longer than necessary, with an all-star cast that includes Adam Sandler and Seth Rogan, Judd Apatow's study of comedians is definitely worth a re-watch.
"Public Enemies"
Johnny Depp plays notorious bank robber John Dillinger, with the fed's Bale on his tale.
"Angels & Demons"
The "prequel" to "The Da Vinci Code" keeps you on the edge of your seat for over two hours. For some supplemental reading equally as thrilling, check out the books that inspired the movies by Dan Brown.
"Bruno"
Just as outrageous as in "Borat" -- if not more so -- Sacha Baron Cohen stars a gay Austrian fashionista. One of the most controversial movies of the year, it should be a crowd pleaser for the holiday season.

"(500) Days of Summer"
In this romantic comedy for the indie bros out there, the kid from "Third Rock" sees his relationship with the always sexy Zooey Deschanel fall apart.
"The Sopranos: The Complete Series"
While this is a pricey gift, consider it an investment, for "The Sopranos" is arguably one of the most badass shows of the decade. Relive the entire saga of Tony and his family on an incredible 30-disc set.
"It Might Get Loud"
This documentary, featuring Jimmy Page, Jack White, and Bono and directed by the same guy who did "An Inconvenient Truth," received excellent reviews and should be a must-have for any music diehard.
"The Goods: Live Hard, Sell Hard"
Comedic genius Jeremy Piven stars as a guy trying to save an auto dealership; he and his crew instead wreak havoc on a small California town.
"District 9"
Consider this alien movie a pregame for "Avatar." Set in South Africa, this film is about human-friendly aliens who find themselves in a hostile, violent society. Combining a compassionate story with sick special effects, this is sure to please all bros.
DVDs you should be embarrassed for not owning (a very partial list):
"Lost - The Complete First Season"
I am personally very confused by this show now, but it definitely had a good run in the beginning. A necessary cornerstone for any bro's collection. Also if you are still emotionally invested in the show, season five comes out just in time for the holidays.
"Scarface"
The movie that launched a million college dorm room (and MTV "Cribs") posters.
"The Big Lebowski"
The Dude is arguably one of the most Chay bros of our generation.
"Fight Club"
One of the most celebrated movies about bros of all time, "Fight Club" is being released in blu-ray just in time for the holiday season.
"Entourage"
Seasons 1 through 5 are already out and season 6 is available for pre-order -- as Vince would tell Ari, "Make it happen."

Although, Angels & Demons, the movie is actually a sequal to The Da Vinci Code movie. The book version is the prequel.
Your inclusion of Terminator: Salvation casts doubt on this entire list.
Public Enemies was terrible...I question whether the publisher of this cacophony has seen half these movies

Funny People was one of the worst movies that came out this year. Angels and Demons sucked too. It didn't follow the book whatsoever, it was a hell of a letdown.

Public Enemies wins. Johnny Depp in that movie is the most bro motherfucker ever. Fucks some random hoe by dropping some of the greatest bro lines ever, robs banks, shoots guns, gets money and chills at horse tracks when he's bored?? If anyone denies how chay that is, get the fuck out of here.
