BroBible Late Night: The Top 5 Karaoke Songs Any Bro Can Pull Off
by Hammer Time | Tuesday, December 8, 2009 at 6:30pm | 11 comments - 271 readsWhat Bro does not like Karaoke? Let's face it, none of us have good voices but it's an excuse to walk on stage totally obliterated, belt out songs from every decade, and hopefully get laid afterward for giving a wink to a broad while butchering ACDC's "Thunderstruck." But there are some who get intimidated by the spotlight and fail to rise to the occasion for fear of being ridiculed or laughed at. I have no time for this character. Karaoke should be a judgeless act that any Bro can participate in and not feel self-conscious about. Here are my Top 5 go-to Karaoke songs:
1. "OPP" by Naughty by Nature
Yes, the lyrics are fast but there's always a huge wow factor if you can pull it off. Sampling a classic Jackson Five tune, "OPP" is an easy chorus for the audience to scream out and any savvy Bro knows how important crowd interaction is. Checks every box. Watch this dude kill it:
2. "A Whole New World" by Aladdin and Jasmine
Looking for a duet to share a special moment with Miss Piggy before you close? This is your jam. Bonus if the girl plays Aladdin and the guy does Jasmine in a falsetto voice.
3. "This is How We Do It" by Montell Jordan
Excellent party starter and feel good tune. The audience knows every word to this song but thinks that they are the only one who knows every word to this song, so you end up with 50 people singing along. Songs that fall in the same category include R. Kelly's "Ignition Remix" and Next's "Too Close."
4. "Wake Me Up Before You Go-Go" by Wham
It's generally a good idea to follow up a hardcore rap tune with a lighthearted, prancing ditty. One requisite is acting out the gasoline fight from "Zoolander" while singing the lyrics. Bros who think they are tough will call me out on this but I always think it's a genius idea to do an ambiguouslyuheffeminate song every so often. Nsync's "Bye Bye Bye" and the Backstreet Boys' "I Want It That Way" are great options for large groups as those who are isolated from the microphone can complement the rest of the crew with absurd dance moves.
5. "Runaround Sue" by Dion And The Belmonts
DISCLAIMER: This can only be pulled off by karaoke veterans. Do not step into the ring without great rhythm, the lyrics memorized backwards and forwards, and at least eight Jack and Cokes down the hatch. If executed properly, the entire dance floor will be filled and chicks will be creaming themselves for a shot at the title when you walk off stage. Watch these "Jersey Shore" extras get after it.
Most importantly, avoid the cliche songs that get played over and over. "Livin' on a Prayer," "Don't Stop Believing," "Piano Man," -- we hear people shouting those songs at bars almost every single night. We don't need to hear your God awful rendition also.
Also, no matter what your confidence level is at, stay away from songs like Mr. Big's "To Be With You" or Springsteen's "Born to Run." Both are legendary songs with great intros, but then the key changes and everyone realizes that your voice isn't strong enough to carry it home.

Great assessment - I fucking love runaround sue.
Karaoke is such a deadly talent to possess as a Bro. Another banger to add to the list: Come On Eileen. Another song to avoid: Billy Joel "We Didn't Start The Fire"
im gonna throw in the Righteous brothers with 'youve lost that lovin feelin' and frankie valli 'cant take my eyes off you' as karaoke classics
Great list - that dude murders OPP!!
What's the best karaoke jam to do with an entire frat?
The Entourage karaoke scene at that bitch's sweet 16 where Vinny sings Frankie Valli is a classic, with Drama puking all over the cake haha

Want to get the crowd pumped? Try "Bawitdaba" by Kid Rock. The 3 holes may not like it but your bros will think you're hilario.
Sweet Caroline? That redefines "lack of imagination." I'll bet your really great at the "Bah Bah Bah" part. FAIL.
Great call on Kid Rock. Cowboy is also strong.
