#1 Recruit Harrison Barnes Makes the Wrong Choice
by AG | Friday, November 13, 2009 at 11:51am | 11 comments - 138 readsTop high school basketball recruit Harrison Barnes is about to announce his college choice live at 3 p.m. CT, 4 p.m. ET on ESPNU, and the entire NCAA hoops world is on pins and needles wondering what he's about to announce. The top candidates are Duke, North Carolina, Kansas, UCLA, Oklahoma, and Iowa State. Barnes is an Iowa kid, so the Cyclone faithful are hoping he stays at home, but it's more likely that one of the big stalwarts will nab him. The amazing thing is that NO ONE KNOWS ANYTHING. Not even any of the coaches involved in the sweepstakes. So my telling you that one of my Duke sources tell me it's 49% he's suiting up for Coach K means absolutely nothing. We'll keep you updated as the news breaks...
UPDATE: The Des Moines Register is streaming the press conference here, but good luck accessing it; it's guaranteed to cripple under the traffic weight.
UPDATE: It's UNC. What a loser. Go to Hell, Carolina go to Hell.

Dear Mr. Bible: I would perceive Harrison Barnes as quite the opposite of a "loser" - especially based on his college decision. If he wanted to be a "loser", he would have attended Duke so he could go down to his arch-rival in Cameron for 4 straight years. If he wanted to be a loser, he could have gone to Duke to help them get beat in half its NCAA tournament games over the next three years - just as Duke has done over the last three year. If he wanted to be a loser, he wouldn't have gone to the school that won the ACC for the last 3 years (and don't give me the tournament BS). At the end of the day, Carolina has been the top program over the last five years (and its not close), while Duke hasn't been even in the top 5. Harrison wants to win a National Championship in his 1 year in college - Duke and its group of losers simply wont give him that opportunity.
Gods don't get shat on twice in a year, fuck, even Maryland was able to steal a win against UNC last year.
As much as I hate Duke, if Barnes went there, they wouldn't be falling to UNC 4 years in a row.
Clearly this kid has basketball skills and a head on his shoulders.

Hey bonecity, you would have have to pull it out of your frat brothers mouth to offer it up. Easy to see why UNC fans are the most obnoxious fans in the ACC. Southern part of heaven??? Yeah....if heaven is getting a woodie over the Labor Day sale at Brooks Brothers. Who else has argyle on their uniforms for gods sakes?? Look in the mirror and say whatever makes you feel manly in that baby blue Biff and let daddy know you got a scratch on his BMW stirring your mimosa in the parking lot.
To all those who think Duke was a better choice,
Duke is the gayest school in the world. I mean the kids camp out for days to get a ticket. Get a life. It may have better academics but do you honestly think the top hoops recruit gives a shit about academics. Plus Coach K is a tool.
